Dr. Cecilia Grierson, was born in Buenos Aires on November 22, 1859. It was the first woman to graduate as a doctor in South America. She was the daughter of John Parish Robertson Grierson, descendant of the first Scottish settlers arrived in the country and Jane Duffy, of Irish origin. While still a student, founded in 1885, within the Argentine Medical Circle, the first Nursing School in South America, an organization that addressed itself until 1913. Dr. Cecilia Grierson died in Buenos Aires on April 10, 1934. In his honor, the School of Nursing of the City of Buenos Aires is named.
